Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue

My first wedding of 2015, Matt and Griselda it was a pleasure. Their beautiful wedding took place at the Eagle Glen Golf Course in Corona California. Their blue themed wedding got me thinking about the something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue “ritual”. Most of the weddings I do brides still follow this ritual. I looked into it recently and found out that this phrase started as far back as 1894 the Victorian period. Participating in this ritual is suppose to be lucky for the bride according to www.phrases.org.uk. The original phrase goes like this

“Something old, something new,
Something borrowed, something blue,
And a silver sixpence in her shoe”

It’s a Puritan Marriage Custom. The sixpence was a silver coin which was in use in the UK between the 17th and 20th centuries. It’s crazy how this one rhyme has lasted us hundreds of years. Wow! Anyways, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoys these images. They’ll be plenty more to come this year.
